Lesson 3: Some Things Will Never Change

So, I haven’t been very good at keeping up with my ‘schoolwork,’ also known as my blog since here. It always sounds better in theory than it happens in execution! I have learned a bunch more lessons, most of which I’ve forgotten at the moment, but will remember at the exact moment I need them again. My ‘teacher,’ or mom keeps asking why I haven’t posted more blogs, well I’ve always been a good learner, but lagging in the homework department… some things will never change! It seems that whenever I have to do something, I put it off. I have some fun stories, and a new project in the works, so I promise to keep you posted on that, it’s gonna be really fun! Blogs are good, but I am always full of things to say until I get to a computer, so I’m finding a new way to track my journey! I always feel like I will have such different habits when I travel. I imagine the new me eating healthy, being responsible, and wandering on my own through foreign lands. Since I’ve been here I’ve still managed to always find ice cream, good food, lose my toothbrush and ipod, never have a clue about what I’m doing next and find friends from LA to watch Friends with*… so I’ve realized wherever you go there you are, and wherever you are you are still you, so some things will never change!

*On a side note, I thought I would share a quick story with you to explain that!
It was one of the 2nd days I had to myself and I was actually glad to be in Bangkok, (I had to take a 14 hour bus the day before from the beatiful sunny beaches of the south, back up to the smelly, expensive, crowded streets of Bangkok to bring a friend to the airport and I wasn't happy to go.) I woke up and headed downstairs with one plan for the day… to not have a plan! Last night I had met some new English friends at dinner, and went out for a bit with them. I was gonna go home when I felt someone grab my arm, and turned to see one of the Ozzies I had met playing Frisbee on the beach in Koh Pangang! I was so happy to see them, we had planned on all meeting in Phi Phi, but neither of us ever made it, and whatta ya know, we found each other in a mess of people in a huge city! We all hung out for a while so I ended up having a much longer night than I had anticipated. I still woke up at 9, and went to call the rents and have some breakfast before searching for a new room. I had been looking all over the day before with no luck of finding a single, so I was stuck enjoying my deluxe double with a hot shower, but my bank account wasn’t. I went and checked a couple and no luck again. I decided to go to the good ole Wild Orchid again to see if they had anything, and to my delight, they did! I never usually check the rooms, especially at this point, but I figured I would because I had nothing better to do. As I was walking down the stairs I literally ran into my friend Shannon from LA. We were both shocked to see each other, and especially in such a huge city with so many hotels and people! “What are you doing here,” we both asked each other?! She was asking me my plan and I told her I had no plan, so we walked to the bus station where I booked a ticket to join her in Laos. I couldn’t deny the plan life had made, although I wasn’t sure I was ready to head to Laos, it was just too much of a good thing! We have been in Laos for 2 days after the 14 hour bus ride to get here! It was my 2nd 14 hour bus ride that week! We are having a blast though and at dinner tonight all the restaurants here play Friends, so we watched about 4 episodes with great food, a Laos beer, and a ton of Israeli and English tourists around us. It's been a great couple of days, and I'm sure there will be many more good times to come!
